I started The Carat Soup because I couldn’t quite find a website like it. Written by somebody that I could relate to.
Sharing gemstones, jewellery and arts. Whilst showcasing extraordinary women from my industry. I later gravitated towards providing a concierge service, with millennial individuals in mind. As that is what I’m asked about the most!
All content tells my story – as only I can share it with you!
Who are you?
I am a curious adventurer, explorer, level-headed lover of life, travel, literary fiction and hiking. Thoroughly enjoy working alongside brands that have an ethos and unbridled commitment to causes that truly resonate with me.
What do you actually do?
I am a Jewellery Professional and Journalist working in print, radio and online.
You can listen to my radio show Hidden Gems with Maya here. In summer 2018, I launched The Carat Soup podcast. Additionally, I’m a GIA alumna and previously had a role at one of the world’s best auction houses, in the jewellery department.
I’m involved in projects that support girls’ education, improve the lives of women and aid marine conservation efforts.
What’re you good at?
My strengths include writing and editing articles centred around the luxury industry. Namely gemstones, jewellery, the arts, fashion, design, architecture and travel. I work with brands for digital media strategy, social media management, jewellery trend analysis and good ol’ copy writing.
What do you enjoy doing?
Adore exploring the world, contemporary African art, hiking, devouring books, and sipping English breakfast tea or Darjeeling, with almond milk. A recent convert to oat milk flat whites too.
