Chiswick Auctions set a new house record last week (17 September 2019), selling a ruby ring for 6 figures. The London based auction house sold a 10.51 carat, natural, unheated ruby with diamond surround for GBP 462,500 ($576,817).

Reflecting on the sale, Sarah Duncan the Head of Jewellery at the auction house said: “Natural rubies above five carats are very rare, and one over 10 carats is exceptional, so we knew that it might attract a lot of attention. Rubies of this size infrequently come onto the market, and because of this and its outstanding quality, bidding was, as expected, extremely competitive.”
