Hidden Gems: Ioanna (Joanna) Lalaounis

Every Monday The Carat Soup shines a spotlight on hidden gems: extraordinary women in our industry.

This week my focus is on Ioanna (Joanna) Lalaounis of Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum (link) in Athens, Greece.

What you need to know about Ioanna and her role:

Ms Lalaounis is the Director – working alongside her sisters – at the museum, established by their father in 1992.

The museum’s ultimate goal is to be a centre of education. Fusing the old with the new, it is the only jewellery museum in Greece and there’s nothing quite like it anywhere else in the world.

She believes in the beauty and power of craftsmanship, as a longtime supporter of artisans.
