With the commencement of Paris Fashion Week, we are excited to see the latest collections, and accessories to adorn the catwalks.
It is always a pleasure to be in The City of Love. With its abundance of art collections, town houses reminiscent of Vanderbilt scale soirees; old Hollywood glamour; and of course the all important Je ne sais quoi.
What a joy it would be to be seated at a dinner party with Hollywood starlets of the Golden Age of film. Or perhaps accompany them to a red carpet event, raise a glass to the latest block buster success, or grab a seat by the fire, draped in cashmere and attentively listen to accounts of life on set in the ’40s and ’50s.
As with all pre-auction exhibitions, we had the pleasure of truly engaging with the personality behind the items.
Our notable favourites include:
[emerald, cultured pearl & diamond brooch; Elizabeth Gage – $5-7k]
[amethyst, turquoise and diamond ring; Jean Shlumberger – $8-12k]
[turquoise, enamel, 18k gold necklace; MarvinnHime – $5-7k]
[Tchokwe comb with seated couple, DRC – $700-900]
[David Hockney print, Two Pembroke Chairs – $5-7k]
Who are auctions for? Collectors, Hollywood starlets, gem explorers? From rough to cut stones, taste in art, and cultures, many factors determine the purchase at auction. It is an opportune time to acquire everyday pieces as well as show stoppers.
Clear your calendar at the end of the month, this is set to be no-doubt a riveting auction!
